Andy Tarr believes in creating web sites that are attractive, practical, usable and accessible. As a member of Joomla's Production Leadership Team, she actively brings that vision to the Joomla project. She is the author of PHP and MySQL 24-Hour Trainer and the tech editor of several Joomla books.
Andy got into computers when she was a librarian, by taking home a self-study guide to the IBM System-32/34 and writing the first computerized circulation system in the state of New Hampshire.
Having spent many years in industry doing business application programming, she went back to school to learn more about web programming. During this time, she worked on the Google Summer of Code. Her project was creating the first fully accessible administrator template for Joomla, Hathor, which currently ships with Joomla 1.6, 1.7, and 2.5. She received her Master's of Science in Information Technology in 2010, also winning the award for best master's thesis project for a site she built with an early version of Joomla 1.6.
Besides being on the Joomla PLT, Andy is co-manager of Joomla User Group New England, active in the Joomla Bug Squad, and was formerly a board member of Open Source Matters, Joomla's non-profit which manages the financial and legal aspects of the Joomla project.
